About Telem Uncommon Sounds
Telem Freetown Uncommon Sounds is an initiative designed to nurture a more open and experimental creative community in Freetown, Sierra Leone. As composers and songwriters, Telem members perform original music from a variety of genres, including Afrobeats, Afro fusion, Jazz, Soul Vibes, R&B, Acoustic Folk, Funk, and Brass. In addition to hosting live concert series, Telem also offers regular songwriting retreats, music production masterclasses, and other music development programs, all with the purpose of encouraging local creatives to hone and share their own distinct voice and sound. In featuring artists who go against the grain, the Telem collective hopes to build a cohort of Sierra Leonean creatives who are honored for their unique musical contributions locally and celebrated globally.
